Salads' Simple Secrets

A world in a nutshell

The word lettuce "salad" probably triggers thoughts for most people, right next to the word "boring".

But I'll let you in on one of the simple secrets Salad: Salad is one of the most versatile dishes that you can do. Possible combinations of ingredients are so numerous that you can use two or three salads for a meal and not repeat an important ingredient! (Try it!)

With dozens of vehicles, dozens of fruits, many types of nuts, beans, cereals, cheese, meat and even the choice, the options are limited only by your imagination and what is available.
Add the choice in sauces and seasonings and you can see there is a world of flavors waiting to be explored.

And with vitamins and minerals organic food, quality crude oils and vinegars or lemon juice, salads are an important nutritional punch.

What is a salad, anyway?

In my opinion, the main feature is its salad served cold. It need not be believed; you do not need to be dressed; but it must be cold.
 Also things that need to be chewed (otherwise the soup). That's all.

So if you were stuck in the rut lettuce and tomato (with maybe the occasional cucumber released), has the variety of foods that can get you called "salad" in mind.

I mean, think about some of the more unusual salads you may have heard or tried: Waldorf Salad (apples and raisins), the chef salad (added sausage), potato salad (not a leaf lettuce in sight!) , Mexican salad (corn and peppers), gazpacho (chopped tomato salad), spinach salad (with bacon and walnuts), and more - some yet to be named, or even invented!

Where Salads Reign

And if instead of the standard meal meat potato vegetable you served a meal with a small serving of cooked food and a couple of cold salads? Revolutionary, I know. Maybe even anti-American. But one of the things that makes the standard American diet is so sad cooked the (annealed) arm foods.

Our national standards require much more servings of vegetables that most of us get. The first step to eat more vegetables and fruits can stop thinking "cooked" and start thinking "salads".
 Raw vegetables are good on many levels, not the least of which is: It's hard to get fat in vegetable - but easy to get healthier!

So get out those cards recipes and shopping lists and make "salad", one of his favorite concepts of planning meals. Simple Salad secret, will reward your body.
